The Sabbatic Year

(Exodus 23:10-13; Deuteronomy 15:1-6)

NIVESVNASBKJVHCSB
1The LORD said to Moses at Mount Sinai,1The LORD spoke to Moses on Mount Sinai, saying,1The LORD then spoke to Moses at Mount Sinai, saying,1And the LORD spake unto Moses in mount Sinai, saying,1The LORD spoke to Moses on Mount Sinai: "
2"Speak to the Israelites and say to them: 'When you enter the land I am going to give you, the land itself must observe a sabbath to the LORD.2“Speak to the people of Israel and say to them, When you come into the land that I give you, the land shall keep a Sabbath to the LORD.2"Speak to the sons of Israel and say to them, 'When you come into the land which I shall give you, then the land shall have a sabbath to the LORD.2Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, When ye come into the land which I give you, then shall the land keep a sabbath unto the LORD.2Speak to the Israelites and tell them: When you enter the land I am giving you, the land will observe a Sabbath to the LORD.
3For six years sow your fields, and for six years prune your vineyards and gather their crops.3For six years you shall sow your field, and for six years you shall prune your vineyard and gather in its fruits,3'Six years you shall sow your field, and six years you shall prune your vineyard and gather in its crop,3Six years thou shalt sow thy field, and six years thou shalt prune thy vineyard, and gather in the fruit thereof;3You may sow your field for six years, and you may prune your vineyard and gather its produce for six years.
4But in the seventh year the land is to have a year of sabbath rest, a sabbath to the LORD. Do not sow your fields or prune your vineyards.4but in the seventh year there shall be a Sabbath of solemn rest for the land, a Sabbath to the LORD. You shall not sow your field or prune your vineyard.4but during the seventh year the land shall have a sabbath rest, a sabbath to the LORD; you shall not sow your field nor prune your vineyard.4But in the seventh year shall be a sabbath of rest unto the land, a sabbath for the LORD: thou shalt neither sow thy field, nor prune thy vineyard.4But there will be a Sabbath of complete rest for the land in the seventh year, a Sabbath to the LORD: you are not to sow your field or prune your vineyard.

5Do not reap what grows of itself or harvest the grapes of your untended vines. The land is to have a year of rest.5You shall not reap what grows of itself in your harvest, or gather the grapes of your undressed vine. It shall be a year of solemn rest for the land.5'Your harvest's aftergrowth you shall not reap, and your grapes of untrimmed vines you shall not gather; the land shall have a sabbatical year.5That which groweth of its own accord of thy harvest thou shalt not reap, neither gather the grapes of thy vine undressed: for it is a year of rest unto the land.5You are not to reap what grows by itself from your crop, or harvest the grapes of your untended vines. It must be a year of complete rest for the land.
6Whatever the land yields during the sabbath year will be food for you--for yourself, your male and female servants, and the hired worker and temporary resident who live among you,6The Sabbath of the land shall provide food for you, for yourself and for your male and female slaves and for your hired worker and the sojourner who lives with you,6All of you shall have the sabbath products of the land for food; yourself, and your male and female slaves, and your hired man and your foreign resident, those who live as aliens with you.6And the sabbath of the land shall be meat for you; for thee, and for thy servant, and for thy maid, and for thy hired servant, and for thy stranger that sojourneth with thee,6Whatever the land produces during the Sabbath year can be food for you--for yourself, your male or female slave, and the hired hand or foreigner who stays with you.
7as well as for your livestock and the wild animals in your land. Whatever the land produces may be eaten.7and for your cattle and for the wild animals that are in your land: all its yield shall be for food.7'Even your cattle and the animals that are in your land shall have all its crops to eat.7And for thy cattle, and for the beast that are in thy land, shall all the increase thereof be meat.7All of its growth may serve as food for your livestock and the wild animals in your land."

The Year of Jubilee

NIVESVNASBKJVHCSB
8"'Count off seven sabbath years--seven times seven years--so that the seven sabbath years amount to a period of forty-nine years.8“You shall count seven weeks of years, seven times seven years, so that the time of the seven weeks of years shall give you forty-nine years.8You are also to count off seven sabbaths of years for yourself, seven times seven years, so that you have the time of the seven sabbaths of years, namely, forty-nine years.8And thou shalt number seven sabbaths of years unto thee, seven times seven years; and the space of the seven sabbaths of years shall be unto thee forty and nine years.8You are to count seven sabbatical years, seven times seven years, so that the time period of the seven sabbatical years amounts to 49.
9Then have the trumpet sounded everywhere on the tenth day of the seventh month; on the Day of Atonement sound the trumpet throughout your land.9Then you shall sound the loud trumpet on the tenth day of the seventh month. On the Day of Atonement you shall sound the trumpet throughout all your land.9'You shall then sound a ram's horn abroad on the tenth day of the seventh month; on the day of atonement you shall sound a horn all through your land.9Then shalt thou cause the trumpet of the jubile to sound on the tenth day of the seventh month, in the day of atonement shall ye make the trumpet sound throughout all your land.9Then you are to sound a trumpet loudly in the seventh month, on the tenth day of the month; you will sound it throughout your land on the Day of Atonement.
10Consecrate the fiftieth year and proclaim liberty throughout the land to all its inhabitants. It shall be a jubilee for you; each of you is to return to your family property and to your own clan.10And you shall consecrate the fiftieth year, and proclaim liberty throughout the land to all its inhabitants. It shall be a jubilee for you, when each of you shall return to his property and each of you shall return to his clan.10'You shall thus consecrate the fiftieth year and proclaim a release through the land to all its inhabitants. It shall be a jubilee for you, and each of you shall return to his own property, and each of you shall return to his family.10And ye shall hallow the fiftieth year, and proclaim liberty throughout all the land unto all the inhabitants thereof: it shall be a jubile unto you; and ye shall return every man unto his possession, and ye shall return every man unto his family.10You are to consecrate the fiftieth year and proclaim freedom in the land for all its inhabitants. It will be your Jubilee, when each of you is to return to his property and each of you to his clan.
11The fiftieth year shall be a jubilee for you; do not sow and do not reap what grows of itself or harvest the untended vines.11That fiftieth year shall be a jubilee for you; in it you shall neither sow nor reap what grows of itself nor gather the grapes from the undressed vines.11You shall have the fiftieth year as a jubilee; you shall not sow, nor reap its aftergrowth, nor gather in from its untrimmed vines.11A jubile shall that fiftieth year be unto you: ye shall not sow, neither reap that which groweth of itself in it, nor gather the grapes in it of thy vine undressed.11The fiftieth year will be your Jubilee; you are not to sow, reap what grows by itself, or harvest its untended vines.
12For it is a jubilee and is to be holy for you; eat only what is taken directly from the fields.12For it is a jubilee. It shall be holy to you. You may eat the produce of the field.12'For it is a jubilee; it shall be holy to you. You shall eat its crops out of the field.12For it is the jubile; it shall be holy unto you: ye shall eat the increase thereof out of the field.12It is to be holy to you because it is the Jubilee; you may only eat its produce directly from the field."

Return of Property

NIVESVNASBKJVHCSB
13"'In this Year of Jubilee everyone is to return to their own property.13“In this year of jubilee each of you shall return to his property.13'On this year of jubilee each of you shall return to his own property.13In the year of this jubile ye shall return every man unto his possession.13In this Year of Jubilee, each of you will return to his property.
14"'If you sell land to any of your own people or buy land from them, do not take advantage of each other.14And if you make a sale to your neighbor or buy from your neighbor, you shall not wrong one another.14'If you make a sale, moreover, to your friend or buy from your friend's hand, you shall not wrong one another.14And if thou sell ought unto thy neighbour, or buyest ought of thy neighbour's hand, ye shall not oppress one another:14If you make a sale to your neighbor or a purchase from him, do not cheat one another.
15You are to buy from your own people on the basis of the number of years since the Jubilee. And they are to sell to you on the basis of the number of years left for harvesting crops.15You shall pay your neighbor according to the number of years after the jubilee, and he shall sell to you according to the number of years for crops.15'Corresponding to the number of years after the jubilee, you shall buy from your friend; he is to sell to you according to the number of years of crops.15According to the number of years after the jubile thou shalt buy of thy neighbour, and according unto the number of years of the fruits he shall sell unto thee:15You are to make the purchase from your neighbor based on the number of years since the last Jubilee. He is to sell to you based on the number of remaining harvest years.
16When the years are many, you are to increase the price, and when the years are few, you are to decrease the price, because what is really being sold to you is the number of crops.16If the years are many, you shall increase the price, and if the years are few, you shall reduce the price, for it is the number of the crops that he is selling to you.16In proportion to the extent of the years you shall increase its price, and in proportion to the fewness of the years you shall diminish its price, for it is a number of crops he is selling to you.16According to the multitude of years thou shalt increase the price thereof, and according to the fewness of years thou shalt diminish the price of it: for according to the number of the years of the fruits doth he sell unto thee.16You are to increase its price in proportion to a greater amount of years, and decrease its price in proportion to a lesser amount of years, because what he is selling to you is a number of harvests.
17Do not take advantage of each other, but fear your God. I am the LORD your God.17You shall not wrong one another, but you shall fear your God, for I am the LORD your God.17'So you shall not wrong one another, but you shall fear your God; for I am the LORD your God.17Ye shall not therefore oppress one another; but thou shalt fear thy God: for I am the LORD your God.17You are not to cheat one another, but fear your God, for I am Yahweh your God."

The Blessing of Obedience

(Deuteronomy 4:1-14; Deuteronomy 11:1-7; Deuteronomy 28:1-14)

NIVESVNASBKJVHCSB
18"'Follow my decrees and be careful to obey my laws, and you will live safely in the land.18“Therefore you shall do my statutes and keep my rules and perform them, and then you will dwell in the land securely.18'You shall thus observe My statutes and keep My judgments, so as to carry them out, that you may live securely on the land.18Wherefore ye shall do my statutes, and keep my judgments, and do them; and ye shall dwell in the land in safety.18You are to keep My statutes and ordinances and carefully observe them, so that you may live securely in the land.
19Then the land will yield its fruit, and you will eat your fill and live there in safety.19The land will yield its fruit, and you will eat your fill and dwell in it securely.19'Then the land will yield its produce, so that you can eat your fill and live securely on it.19And the land shall yield her fruit, and ye shall eat your fill, and dwell therein in safety.19Then the land will yield its fruit, so that you can eat, be satisfied, and live securely in the land.
20You may ask, "What will we eat in the seventh year if we do not plant or harvest our crops?"20And if you say, ‘What shall we eat in the seventh year, if we may not sow or gather in our crop?’20'But if you say, "What are we going to eat on the seventh year if we do not sow or gather in our crops?"20And if ye shall say, What shall we eat the seventh year? behold, we shall not sow, nor gather in our increase:20If you wonder: 'What will we eat in the seventh year if we don't sow or gather our produce?'
21I will send you such a blessing in the sixth year that the land will yield enough for three years.21I will command my blessing on you in the sixth year, so that it will produce a crop sufficient for three years.21then I will so order My blessing for you in the sixth year that it will bring forth the crop for three years.21Then I will command my blessing upon you in the sixth year, and it shall bring forth fruit for three years.21I will appoint My blessing for you in the sixth year, so that it will produce a crop sufficient for three years.
22While you plant during the eighth year, you will eat from the old crop and will continue to eat from it until the harvest of the ninth year comes in.22When you sow in the eighth year, you will be eating some of the old crop; you shall eat the old until the ninth year, when its crop arrives.22When you are sowing the eighth year, you can still eat old things from the crop, eating the old until the ninth year when its crop comes in.22And ye shall sow the eighth year, and eat yet of old fruit until the ninth year; until her fruits come in ye shall eat of the old store.22When you sow in the eighth year, you will be eating from the previous harvest. You will be eating this until the ninth year when its harvest comes in."

The Law of Redemption

NIVESVNASBKJVHCSB
23"'The land must not be sold permanently, because the land is mine and you reside in my land as foreigners and strangers.23“The land shall not be sold in perpetuity, for the land is mine. For you are strangers and sojourners with me.23The land, moreover, shall not be sold permanently, for the land is Mine; for you are but aliens and sojourners with Me.23The land shall not be sold for ever: for the land is mine; for ye are strangers and sojourners with me.23The land is not to be permanently sold because it is Mine, and you are only foreigners and temporary residents on My land.
24Throughout the land that you hold as a possession, you must provide for the redemption of the land.24And in all the country you possess, you shall allow a redemption of the land.24'Thus for every piece of your property, you are to provide for the redemption of the land.24And in all the land of your possession ye shall grant a redemption for the land.24You are to allow the redemption of any land you occupy.
25"'If one of your fellow Israelites becomes poor and sells some of their property, their nearest relative is to come and redeem what they have sold.25“If your brother becomes poor and sells part of his property, then his nearest redeemer shall come and redeem what his brother has sold.25'If a fellow countryman of yours becomes so poor he has to sell part of his property, then his nearest kinsman is to come and buy back what his relative has sold.25If thy brother be waxen poor, and hath sold away some of his possession, and if any of his kin come to redeem it, then shall he redeem that which his brother sold.25If your brother becomes destitute and sells part of his property, his nearest relative may come and redeem what his brother has sold.
26If, however, there is no one to redeem it for them but later on they prosper and acquire sufficient means to redeem it themselves,26If a man has no one to redeem it and then himself becomes prosperous and finds sufficient means to redeem it,26'Or in case a man has no kinsman, but so recovers his means as to find sufficient for its redemption,26And if the man have none to redeem it, and himself be able to redeem it;26If a man has no family redeemer, but he prospers and obtains enough to redeem his land,
NIVESVNASBKJVHCSB
27they are to determine the value for the years since they sold it and refund the balance to the one to whom they sold it; they can then go back to their own property.27let him calculate the years since he sold it and pay back the balance to the man to whom he sold it, and then return to his property.27then he shall calculate the years since its sale and refund the balance to the man to whom he sold it, and so return to his property.27Then let him count the years of the sale thereof, and restore the overplus unto the man to whom he sold it; that he may return unto his possession.27he may calculate the years since its sale, repay the balance to the man he sold it to, and return to his property.
28But if they do not acquire the means to repay, what was sold will remain in the possession of the buyer until the Year of Jubilee. It will be returned in the Jubilee, and they can then go back to their property.28But if he does not have sufficient means to recover it, then what he sold shall remain in the hand of the buyer until the year of jubilee. In the jubilee it shall be released, and he shall return to his property.28'But if he has not found sufficient means to get it back for himself, then what he has sold shall remain in the hands of its purchaser until the year of jubilee; but at the jubilee it shall revert, that he may return to his property.28But if he be not able to restore it to him, then that which is sold shall remain in the hand of him that hath bought it until the year of jubile: and in the jubile it shall go out, and he shall return unto his possession.28But if he cannot obtain enough to repay him, what he sold will remain in the possession of its purchaser until the Year of Jubilee. It is to be released at the Jubilee, so that he may return to his property."
29"'Anyone who sells a house in a walled city retains the right of redemption a full year after its sale. During that time the seller may redeem it.29“If a man sells a dwelling house in a walled city, he may redeem it within a year of its sale. For a full year he shall have the right of redemption.29'Likewise, if a man sells a dwelling house in a walled city, then his redemption right remains valid until a full year from its sale; his right of redemption lasts a full year.29And if a man sell a dwelling house in a walled city, then he may redeem it within a whole year after it is sold; within a full year may he redeem it.29If a man sells a residence in a walled city, his right of redemption will last until a year has passed after its sale; his right of redemption will last a year.
30If it is not redeemed before a full year has passed, the house in the walled city shall belong permanently to the buyer and the buyer's descendants. It is not to be returned in the Jubilee.30If it is not redeemed within a full year, then the house in the walled city shall belong in perpetuity to the buyer, throughout his generations; it shall not be released in the jubilee.30'But if it is not bought back for him within the space of a full year, then the house that is in the walled city passes permanently to its purchaser throughout his generations; it does not revert in the jubilee.30And if it be not redeemed within the space of a full year, then the house that is in the walled city shall be established for ever to him that bought it throughout his generations: it shall not go out in the jubile.30If it is not redeemed by the end of a full year, then the house in the walled city is permanently transferred to its purchaser throughout his generations. It is not to be released on the Jubilee.
31But houses in villages without walls around them are to be considered as belonging to the open country. They can be redeemed, and they are to be returned in the Jubilee.31But the houses of the villages that have no wall around them shall be classified with the fields of the land. They may be redeemed, and they shall be released in the jubilee.31'The houses of the villages, however, which have no surrounding wall shall be considered as open fields; they have redemption rights and revert in the jubilee.31But the houses of the villages which have no wall round about them shall be counted as the fields of the country: they may be redeemed, and they shall go out in the jubile.31But houses in villages that have no walls around them are to be classified as open fields. The right to redeem such houses stays in effect, and they are to be released at the Jubilee."

32"'The Levites always have the right to redeem their houses in the Levitical towns, which they possess.32As for the cities of the Levites, the Levites may redeem at any time the houses in the cities they possess.32'As for cities of the Levites, the Levites have a permanent right of redemption for the houses of the cities which are their possession.32Notwithstanding the cities of the Levites, and the houses of the cities of their possession, may the Levites redeem at any time.32Concerning the Levitical cities, the Levites always have the right to redeem houses in the cities they possess.
33So the property of the Levites is redeemable--that is, a house sold in any town they hold--and is to be returned in the Jubilee, because the houses in the towns of the Levites are their property among the Israelites.33And if one of the Levites exercises his right of redemption, then the house that was sold in a city they possess shall be released in the jubilee. For the houses in the cities of the Levites are their possession among the people of Israel.33'What, therefore, belongs to the Levites may be redeemed and a house sale in the city of this possession reverts in the jubilee, for the houses of the cities of the Levites are their possession among the sons of Israel.33And if a man purchase of the Levites, then the house that was sold, and the city of his possession, shall go out in the year of jubile: for the houses of the cities of the Levites are their possession among the children of Israel.33Whatever property one of the Levites can redeem--a house sold in a city they possess--must be released at the Jubilee, because the houses in the Levitical cities are their possession among the Israelites.
34But the pastureland belonging to their towns must not be sold; it is their permanent possession.34But the fields of pastureland belonging to their cities may not be sold, for that is their possession forever.34'But pasture fields of their cities shall not be sold, for that is their perpetual possession.34But the field of the suburbs of their cities may not be sold; for it is their perpetual possession.34The open pastureland around their cities may not be sold, for it is their permanent possession."

Redemption of the Poor

NIVESVNASBKJVHCSB
35"'If any of your fellow Israelites become poor and are unable to support themselves among you, help them as you would a foreigner and stranger, so they can continue to live among you.35“If your brother becomes poor and cannot maintain himself with you, you shall support him as though he were a stranger and a sojourner, and he shall live with you.35'Now in case a countryman of yours becomes poor and his means with regard to you falter, then you are to sustain him, like a stranger or a sojourner, that he may live with you.35And if thy brother be waxen poor, and fallen in decay with thee; then thou shalt relieve him: yea, though he be a stranger, or a sojourner; that he may live with thee.35If your brother becomes destitute and cannot sustain himself among you, you are to support him as a foreigner or temporary resident, so that he can continue to live among you.
36Do not take interest or any profit from them, but fear your God, so that they may continue to live among you.36Take no interest from him or profit, but fear your God, that your brother may live beside you.36'Do not take usurious interest from him, but revere your God, that your countryman may live with you.36Take thou no usury of him, or increase: but fear thy God; that thy brother may live with thee.36Do not profit or take interest from him, but fear your God and let your brother live among you.
37You must not lend them money at interest or sell them food at a profit.37You shall not lend him your money at interest, nor give him your food for profit.37'You shall not give him your silver at interest, nor your food for gain.37Thou shalt not give him thy money upon usury, nor lend him thy victuals for increase.37You are not to lend him your silver with interest or sell him your food for profit.
38I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of Egypt to give you the land of Canaan and to be your God.38I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt to give you the land of Canaan, and to be your God.38I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt to give you the land of Canaan and to be your God.38I am the LORD your God, which brought you forth out of the land of Egypt, to give you the land of Canaan, and to be your God.38I am Yahweh your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt to give you the land of Canaan and to be your God."

Redemption of Bondmen

NIVESVNASBKJVHCSB
39"'If any of your fellow Israelites become poor and sell themselves to you, do not make them work as slaves.39“If your brother becomes poor beside you and sells himself to you, you shall not make him serve as a slave:39'If a countryman of yours becomes so poor with regard to you that he sells himself to you, you shall not subject him to a slave's service.39And if thy brother that dwelleth by thee be waxen poor, and be sold unto thee; thou shalt not compel him to serve as a bondservant:39If your brother among you becomes destitute and sells himself to you, you must not force him to do slave labor.
40They are to be treated as hired workers or temporary residents among you; they are to work for you until the Year of Jubilee.40he shall be with you as a hired worker and as a sojourner. He shall serve with you until the year of the jubilee.40'He shall be with you as a hired man, as if he were a sojourner; he shall serve with you until the year of jubilee.40But as an hired servant, and as a sojourner, he shall be with thee, and shall serve thee unto the year of jubile:40Let him stay with you as a hired hand or temporary resident; he may work for you until the Year of Jubilee.
41Then they and their children are to be released, and they will go back to their own clans and to the property of their ancestors.41Then he shall go out from you, he and his children with him, and go back to his own clan and return to the possession of his fathers.41'He shall then go out from you, he and his sons with him, and shall go back to his family, that he may return to the property of his forefathers.41And then shall he depart from thee, both he and his children with him, and shall return unto his own family, and unto the possession of his fathers shall he return.41Then he and his children are to be released from you, and he may return to his clan and his ancestral property.
42Because the Israelites are my servants, whom I brought out of Egypt, they must not be sold as slaves.42For they are my servants, whom I brought out of the land of Egypt; they shall not be sold as slaves.42For they are My servants whom I brought out from the land of Egypt; they are not to be sold in a slave sale.42For they are my servants, which I brought forth out of the land of Egypt: they shall not be sold as bondmen.42They are not to be sold as slaves, because they are My slaves that I brought out of the land of Egypt.
NIVESVNASBKJVHCSB
43Do not rule over them ruthlessly, but fear your God.43You shall not rule over him ruthlessly but shall fear your God.43'You shall not rule over him with severity, but are to revere your God.43Thou shalt not rule over him with rigour; but shalt fear thy God.43You are not to rule over them harshly but fear your God.
44"'Your male and female slaves are to come from the nations around you; from them you may buy slaves.44As for your male and female slaves whom you may have: you may buy male and female slaves from among the nations that are around you.44'As for your male and female slaves whom you may have-- you may acquire male and female slaves from the pagan nations that are around you.44Both thy bondmen, and thy bondmaids, which thou shalt have, shall be of the heathen that are round about you; of them shall ye buy bondmen and bondmaids.44Your male and female slaves are to be from the nations around you; you may purchase male and female slaves.
45You may also buy some of the temporary residents living among you and members of their clans born in your country, and they will become your property.45You may also buy from among the strangers who sojourn with you and their clans that are with you, who have been born in your land, and they may be your property.45Then, too, it is out of the sons of the sojourners who live as aliens among you that you may gain acquisition, and out of their families who are with you, whom they will have produced in your land; they also may become your possession.45Moreover of the children of the strangers that do sojourn among you, of them shall ye buy, and of their families that are with you, which they begat in your land: and they shall be your possession.45You may also purchase them from the foreigners staying with you, or from their families living among you--those born in your land. These may become your property.
46You can bequeath them to your children as inherited property and can make them slaves for life, but you must not rule over your fellow Israelites ruthlessly.46You may bequeath them to your sons after you to inherit as a possession forever. You may make slaves of them, but over your brothers the people of Israel you shall not rule, one over another ruthlessly.46'You may even bequeath them to your sons after you, to receive as a possession; you can use them as permanent slaves. But in respect to your countrymen, the sons of Israel, you shall not rule with severity over one another.46And ye shall take them as an inheritance for your children after you, to inherit them for a possession; they shall be your bondmen for ever: but over your brethren the children of Israel, ye shall not rule one over another with rigour.46You may leave them to your sons after you to inherit as property; you can make them slaves for life. But concerning your brothers, the Israelites, you must not rule over one another harshly."

Redemption of Servants

NIVESVNASBKJVHCSB
47"'If a foreigner residing among you becomes rich and any of your fellow Israelites become poor and sell themselves to the foreigner or to a member of the foreigner's clan,47“If a stranger or sojourner with you becomes rich, and your brother beside him becomes poor and sells himself to the stranger or sojourner with you or to a member of the stranger’s clan,47'Now if the means of a stranger or of a sojourner with you becomes sufficient, and a countryman of yours becomes so poor with regard to him as to sell himself to a stranger who is sojourning with you, or to the descendants of a stranger's family,47And if a sojourner or stranger wax rich by thee, and thy brother that dwelleth by him wax poor, and sell himself unto the stranger or sojourner by thee, or to the stock of the stranger's family:47If a foreigner or temporary resident living among you prospers, but your brother living near him becomes destitute and sells himself to the foreigner living among you, or to a member of the foreigner's clan,
48they retain the right of redemption after they have sold themselves. One of their relatives may redeem them:48then after he is sold he may be redeemed. One of his brothers may redeem him,48then he shall have redemption right after he has been sold. One of his brothers may redeem him,48After that he is sold he may be redeemed again; one of his brethren may redeem him:48he has the right of redemption after he has been sold. One of his brothers may redeem him.
49An uncle or a cousin or any blood relative in their clan may redeem them. Or if they prosper, they may redeem themselves.49or his uncle or his cousin may redeem him, or a close relative from his clan may redeem him. Or if he grows rich he may redeem himself.49or his uncle, or his uncle's son, may redeem him, or one of his blood relatives from his family may redeem him; or if he prospers, he may redeem himself.49Either his uncle, or his uncle's son, may redeem him, or any that is nigh of kin unto him of his family may redeem him; or if he be able, he may redeem himself.49His uncle or cousin may redeem him, or any of his close relatives from his clan may redeem him. If he prospers, he may redeem himself.
50They and their buyer are to count the time from the year they sold themselves up to the Year of Jubilee. The price for their release is to be based on the rate paid to a hired worker for that number of years.50He shall calculate with his buyer from the year when he sold himself to him until the year of jubilee, and the price of his sale shall vary with the number of years. The time he was with his owner shall be rated as the time of a hired worker.50He then with his purchaser shall calculate from the year when he sold himself to him up to the year of jubilee; and the price of his sale shall correspond to the number of years. It is like the days of a hired man that he shall be with him.50And he shall reckon with him that bought him from the year that he was sold to him unto the year of jubile: and the price of his sale shall be according unto the number of years, according to the time of an hired servant shall it be with him.50The one who purchased him is to calculate the time from the year he sold himself to him until the Year of Jubilee. The price of his sale will be determined by the number of years. It will be set for him like the daily wages of a hired hand.

51If many years remain, they must pay for their redemption a larger share of the price paid for them.51If there are still many years left, he shall pay proportionately for his redemption some of his sale price.51'If there are still many years, he shall refund part of his purchase price in proportion to them for his own redemption;51If there be yet many years behind, according unto them he shall give again the price of his redemption out of the money that he was bought for.51If many years are still left, he must pay his redemption price in proportion to them based on his purchase price.
52If only a few years remain until the Year of Jubilee, they are to compute that and pay for their redemption accordingly.52If there remain but a few years until the year of jubilee, he shall calculate and pay for his redemption in proportion to his years of service.52and if few years remain until the year of jubilee, he shall so calculate with him. In proportion to his years he is to refund the amount for his redemption.52And if there remain but few years unto the year of jubile, then he shall count with him, and according unto his years shall he give him again the price of his redemption.52If only a few years remain until the Year of Jubilee, he will calculate and pay the price of his redemption in proportion to his remaining years.
53They are to be treated as workers hired from year to year; you must see to it that those to whom they owe service do not rule over them ruthlessly.53He shall treat him as a worker hired year by year. He shall not rule ruthlessly over him in your sight.53'Like a man hired year by year he shall be with him; he shall not rule over him with severity in your sight.53And as a yearly hired servant shall he be with him: and the other shall not rule with rigour over him in thy sight.53He will stay with him like a man hired year by year. A foreign owner is not to rule over him harshly in your sight.
54"'Even if someone is not redeemed in any of these ways, they and their children are to be released in the Year of Jubilee,54And if he is not redeemed by these means, then he and his children with him shall be released in the year of jubilee.54Even if he is not redeemed by these means, he shall still go out in the year of jubilee, he and his sons with him.54And if he be not redeemed in these years, then he shall go out in the year of jubile, both he, and his children with him.54If he is not redeemed in any of these ways, he and his children are to be released at the Year of Jubilee.
55for the Israelites belong to me as servants. They are my servants, whom I brought out of Egypt. I am the LORD your God.55For it is to me that the people of Israel are servants. They are my servants whom I brought out of the land of Egypt: I am the LORD your God.55'For the sons of Israel are My servants; they are My servants whom I brought out from the land of Egypt. I am the LORD your God.55For unto me the children of Israel are servants; they are my servants whom I brought forth out of the land of Egypt: I am the LORD your God.55For the Israelites are My slaves. They are My slaves that I brought out of the land of Egypt; I am Yahweh your God."
